How do I set up two-factor authentication (2FA) by scanning a QR code?
Setting up Two-Factor Authentication (2FA) using a QR code is a fast and convenient way to secure your account.
Here’s how to do it by scanning a QR code:
Go to your account settings:
Log in to the online service where you want to enable 2FA (such as Instagram, Facebook, or a crypto platform) and navigate to the Security or Account Settings section.Find the Two-Factor Authentication (2FA) option:
Look for the option to enable 2FA, which may also be labeled as Two-Step Verification (2SV) or Two-Step Authentication (2SA).Choose the Authenticator App method:
When prompted, select Authenticator App. A QR code will appear on the screen.Scan the QR code to link your account:
Open your Authenticator App.
Tap the + (plus) icon, and the Scan QR Code option should be available.
If using two devices: point your device camera at the QR code on your other device.
If using a Mac: drag the scanner window over the QR code displayed on your screen.
Tap Save.
Confirm the setup:
The Authenticator App will generate a code for you. Enter this code into the online service to confirm that 2FA is successfully set up.Save backup options:
Most services provide backup codes or recovery options in case you lose access to your Authenticator App. Store these safely!
