How do I restore or sync my accounts on a new device?

If you’ve enabled the Sync & Backup feature and have an iCloud setup on your device, restoring or syncing your 2FA accounts is quick and secure.

Steps to sync or restore:

  1. 🔄 Download the Authenticator App on your device from the App Store.

    • Already installed it? Open the app, go to Settings > Advanced, and tap Start Over.

  2. ☁️ Open the app and select the Restore option when prompted.

  3. 🗂️ Choose the Vault you want to restore.

    • Tip: On your previous device, go to Settings > Sync & Backup to check the vault’s name if needed.

  4. 🔑 Enter the password for that vault.

    • This confirms you’re the rightful owner of your data.

  5. ✅ Enable Sync & Backup to restore your saved accounts and keep them up to date.

🔐 Note on security: For your protection, the app always asks for your password first, even if you usually use Face or Touch ID. This ensures only you can access your data.
