How does the Sync & Backup feature work in the Passkeys App?

Our Sync & Backup feature helps keep your passkeys safe, even if you lose your phone or get a new one.

When this feature is turned on, your passkeys are securely encrypted and stored in your iCloud account, not on our servers. This means only you can access your data, and your privacy is fully protected.

Here’s what you can expect:

  • 🔁 Sync across devices: Access your passkeys from multiple Apple devices (like your iPhone and iPad) with automatic sync via iCloud.

  • 🛡️ End-to-end encrypted: Your data is encrypted before it ever leaves your device, so not even Apple or our team can see it.

  • ☁️ Backup and restore: If you switch devices or reinstall the app, you can restore your passkeys by logging into iCloud and unlocking the Passkeys App with your password.

🔐 Note: For your security, the app always asks for your password first, even if you usually use Face or Touch ID. This helps confirm you’re the rightful owner before syncing or restoring data.

This way, your passkeys are always backed up and always in your control.
